As a pediatric nurse practitioner and a mother, I wanted candles that filled our home with fragrance and were made with ingredients I felt good about.
That led me to create Cooper James Co, named after my two sons' middle names, Nolan James and Owen Cooper.
The Story Behind Our Butterfly
Every Cooper James Co candle carries a butterfly, a symbol of love, remembrance, and hope.
For our family, it holds a deeply personal meaning. Our youngest son, Owen Cooper, is a twin. During my pregnancy, we lost his brother at 24 weeks. Owen was born at 27 weeks and spent more than 100 days in the NICU before coming home.
In the NICU, a purple butterfly quietly signifies that a baby has lost a twin or multiple sibling. It is a gentle reminder that every family’s story is different, and that grief and love can exist alongside joy.
That butterfly has stayed with me ever since. Today, it is part of every Cooper James Co candle as a quiet tribute to babies gone too soon, to families carrying invisible grief, and to the enduring love that never leaves us.
