Why Coconut-Apricot Wax?
One of the questions we hear most often is: what exactly is coconut-apricot wax?
Coconut-apricot wax is a premium candle wax made primarily from plant-derived oils. Coconut oil and apricot kernel oil are processed into a stable wax that can hold its shape at room temperature and melt beautifully when burned. The result is the exceptionally smooth, creamy wax you see in every Cooper James Co candle.
Why We Chose It
Not all candle waxes are the same. Traditional paraffin wax is petroleum-derived, which is why we chose to build our collection around a plant-based alternative.
Soy wax is also plant-based and widely used in candle making, but it has different characteristics. It typically has a firmer texture and higher melt point and can develop a more textured or frosted appearance. For Cooper James Co, we preferred the silky finish, lower melt point, and fragrance performance of coconut-apricot wax.
Its softer composition creates a smooth, even melt pool that helps fragrance release beautifully as the candle burns. Coconut-apricot wax also has excellent fragrance-holding ability, allowing our scents to remain rich and balanced throughout the life of the candle.
For us, choosing coconut-apricot wax wasn’t about using the most common or least expensive option. It was about choosing a wax that reflects what Cooper James Co is meant to be: clean fragrance, thoughtfully crafted.
What to Expect From Your Candle
All of our candles are made with the same coconut-apricot wax base. We pair it with carefully selected fragrance and individually wick each scent to create the best possible scent and burn experience.
The fragrance changes. Our standard for the wax doesn’t.
